Safety and fair play
Stay in control of OtterTap, and use it in a way that doesn't get you or anyone else in trouble.
Stay in control
- Know your emergency stop. F8 stops everything immediately, even if the OtterTap window is hidden. Check it works before you rely on OtterTap.
- Use limits. Set a time, click or key-press limit on the Hotkeys & limits tab so a run always ends.
- Use the countdown. Starting from the Start button gives you a few seconds to switch to your game. Starting with the hotkey is instant.
- Be careful with fast settings. Very short times between clicks can do a lot very quickly, such as clicking Buy or Delete buttons. Start slow.
- Watch your first run. Stay at the keyboard until you're sure it does what you expect.
Fair play
Many games don't allow automation. Using OtterTap where it isn't allowed can get your account suspended or banned. That's your responsibility, not OtterTap's.
- Read the rules. Check the terms of the platform (for Roblox, Roblox's Terms of Use and community rules) and the rules of the specific game you play. Some games ban automation outright, and some tolerate it only in certain places.
- Randomness is not permission. OtterTap varies its timing so clicks look natural. That doesn't make automation allowed, and it can't promise a game won't notice. OtterTap is not designed to hide from anyone.
- Don't spoil it for others. Avoid using automation in competitive modes, trading, or anywhere it gives you an unfair edge over other players.
- If a game says no, don't. If a developer asks players not to use automation tools, respect that.
Keeping your account safe
- OtterTap never needs your password. It doesn't log in to anything. Anyone who asks you for your Roblox or other game password "to use OtterTap" is not us. Don't give it.
- Download only from this website. Fake copies of popular tools are common. If a "free" version came from somewhere else, don't run it.
- Be wary of shared profiles. Only import profiles from people you trust.
- Don't leave it running unattended for long periods. A game can change, a window can pop up, and OtterTap will keep clicking.
If you're under 18
Please talk to a parent or guardian before installing software, and before using any tool that might break a game's rules. OtterTap doesn't collect information about you, but your game account is what's at risk if a game doesn't allow automation.
What OtterTap does and doesn't do
- It does send normal mouse and keyboard input to the window in front, and look at the pixels on your screen for triggers.
- It doesn't change a game's files, read its memory, inject code, or connect to any account.
